Which Plan?

Not sure which Lattice training option is right for you? This article covers all our current plans — including LatticePlan, Climbing Training Plans, Climbing Training Plan+, and Flexibility Training Plans.

What is LatticePlan?

LatticePlan is our self-directed training subscription, powered by Lattice's Intelligent Climbing Training Technology. It generates a personalised plan based your goals, climbing performance and training history, with no minimum grade or fitness level required to get started.

LatticePlan's real strength is how it adapts around you as you go. Each week, your plan updates based on two things: your workout logs and your weekly check-in quiz. After each session,  you log what you did and how hard it felt, and at the end of the week, a short quiz captures how you're recovering and coping with the overall load. The plan uses that feedback to fine-tune your training, guiding you to push on, hold steady, or ease off depending on how things are going. The more honestly you feed it information, the better it works for you.

LatticePlan is delivered through the Lattice Training app and is available as a monthly or annual subscription, with a 7-day free trial. Unlike our coached plans, it doesn't include 1-1 support from a coach, but it's a great option if you want structured, Lattice-quality training at a lower price point and on your own schedule. Start your free trial at latticetraining.com/latticeplan or see Getting Started with LatticePlan for more information.

If you're looking for a Lattice coach to write your plan and/or need more 1-1 coach support, please read below.

What is the difference between Climbing Training Plans, Climbing Training Plan+ and Flexibility Training Plans?

If you would like a Lattice coach to write you a bespoke training plan, you can choose between a Climbing Training Plan, Climbing Training Plan Plus and Flexibility Training Plan. All of our plans will help you reach your climbing goals, but the main difference between them is the level of support you receive.

With a Climbing Training Plan Plus or a Flexibility Training Plan, you get ongoing remote support from a dedicated coach. Your coach can discuss your training with you, adjust your plan based on how you're finding it, and offer advice and encouragement throughout. They can also make changes based on your personal circumstances, such as shifts in your access to equipment or facilities. Both plans are subscription-based with a minimum 14-week sign-up, and coaching is delivered through the chat function in the Lattice Training app.

A Climbing Training Plan takes a more self-directed approach. After a coach puts together your initial training structure, you follow the plan independently from there. This is a great option if you feel confident managing your own training and don't need ongoing one-on-one support. This plan is a one-off purchase rather than a subscription, and the coach chat function is not included.

All three plan types are delivered through the Lattice Training app, and all begin with an initial assessment and pre-plan form. This is your opportunity to share the details that shape your plan, including your training goals, available equipment and facilities, time commitment, preferred climbing discipline, and any past injuries. There are also some differences in the minimum physical requirements for each plan, which are outlined below.

I'm a multidisciplinary climber, which plan should I choose?

All our plans are fully customised to your aims, goals, climbing discipline and equipment availability.

If you're looking to work with a specific coach on our Climbing Training Plan+ service, please add your name to our waitlist and we'll be in touch!

Physical requirements

All participants in our training plans must be at least 18 years old and currently injury-free (please get in touch if you have a lower-body injury which we could work around).

We can work with pregnant and post-partum athletes on our Climbing Training Plan Plus programme. Please check out this article for more information.

Climbing Training Plans and Climbing Training Plan+ You must have bouldered V4/6B or sport climbed 6b+/5.10+ in the last 12 months and must be able to hang your body weight on a 20mm rung for 10 seconds or more.

Flexibility Training Plans You must have bouldered V4/6B or sport climbed 6b+/5.10+ in the last 12 months and you must not be injured

LatticePlan has no minimum grade or fitness level requirement. It's designed to work for climbers at any stage. You must be at least 18 to sign up. This type of plan works best when you're healthy and able to train consistently. If you're currently dealing with an injury, are pregnant or postpartum, or have a disability that requires a more tailored approach, LatticePlan may not be the right fit at this time. You can find more information on how we support climbers in these situations in our articles on injuries and LatticePlan, pregnancy, postpartum and LatticePlan, and training with a disability.

I have a holiday planned in the middle of my training plan, can you edit my schedule?

With LatticePlan, you're fully in control of your schedule. If you have a holiday or a week where training isn't possible, you can set a rest week yourself at the start of that week, on the Monday, through your weekly check-in.

Once a Climbing Training Plan has been written, it isn't intended to be edited. This service comes with Climbing Training Plan+ and Flexibility Training Plan, where your coach can adapt your schedule around last-minute changes.

For Climbing Training Plan clients, where possible, please let us know in your pre-plan form about any significant dates so we can plan around them.

Can I pause my Climbing Training Plan?

Unfortunately, it isn't possible for us to pause your training plan unless there is an injury or sickness (please see more info on this below).

However, you will have access to the training plan forever in the Lattice app, so you could always skip backwards in the scheduler to view the sessions.

Please get in touch for further details.

What if I get sick or injured mid-plan?

If you have any concerns about an injury or illness, it is crucial to stop your training right away. Should your symptoms persist for more than 48 hours and you believe the issue is significant, please reach out to us. We can discuss options for pausing or cancelling your training plan based on your specific situation. Further information about injuries and illnesses can be found here

When and how will I receive the assessment to test my physical performance?

LatticePlan currently doesn't require an assessment to get started. Your plan is built entirely from your sign-up quiz and adapts week to week based on your workout logs and check-ins. Assessment integration is planned for 2026, which will add an extra layer of personalisation to your plan.

Climbing Training Plan - Straight away via email after purchase. This will come in a Google Form.

Climbing Training Plan+ and Flexibility Training Plans - you will complete your assessments via the Lattice Training app in the first 2 weeks of your plan during your 'Discovery Phase'

How much time do I have to complete the assessment?

For our Climbing Training Plans, we ask that you submit your pre-plan form within 6 months of purchase (please get in touch if this isn't possible). Assessments are usually completed over a few days to allow for rest and recovery (but in total should only take around 1-2 hours with a proper warm-up).

How long does it take for my coach to analyse my assessment results, and how can I follow this process?

Our data models give the coaches a summary of your results - comparing your assessment to thousands of other climbers. These summaries, in addition to the information you provide in the pre-plan form, will allow the coach to write your plan. You will receive your plan by Friday at the latest, before your Monday start date.

Will I have a video call with my coach after they analyse my assessment results? If so, how can I get in touch to schedule the call?

This service isn't included in our Climbing Training Plans, but you can expect a video call at the start of our Climbing Training Plan PLUS service. Your coach will, however, send you a video summary explaining your training plan in the Climbing Training Plans (see example here).

Can I communicate with my coach during the training sessions? If yes, how and how often?

This service only comes with Climbing Training Plan PLUS & Flex Plans - You can message your dedicated coach anytime through the Lattice Training app — they’ll typically reply within 1–2 working days with guidance, support, and plan adjustments where needed. Your coaching starts with a video consultation, with discretionary video-call follow-ups every 3–6 months. Weekly updates are encouraged, but you set the pace. Learn more about how to make the most out of working with a remote coach.

Our Climbing Training Plan service is self-led and does not come with 1-1 coaching. However, if you have any questions, you are welcome to get in touch via contact@latticetraining.com

Each time I renew my training plan, will a new assessment be conducted to test my physical performance?

We don't advise retesting too frequently. Once per 6 months is usually a good amount of time. Your coach can look at your session logs to view your progress and provide any appropriate changes to any follow-up plans

What language support do you offer?

To maintain accuracy and quality across our services, the Lattice App, our online courses and our training plans, are all currently only developed and delivered in English.

While there is always consideration for expanding language options, there are no immediate plans to release localised versions in other languages.
