What is the difference between Climbing Training Plans, Climbing Training Plan+ and Flexibility Training Plans?

If you would like a Lattice coach to write you a bespoke training plan, you can choose between a Climbing Training Plan, Climbing Training Plan+ and Flexibility Training Plan. All our plans will help you reach your climbing goals, however, the main difference is the level of support you receive.

With Climbing Training Plan+ or a Flexibility Training Plan, you get remote support and communication from a coach whom you can discuss your training with. Your coach can alter your plan based on how you are finding it, offer changes dependent on your personal circumstance or changes in access to equipment for example, and they will offer continual advice and encouragement. (This is a subscription service with a minimum 14-week sign up and the coaching is delivered through the chat function in the Lattice Training app).

A Climbing Training Plan offers a more self-directed approach to training. This option is ideal for individuals who feel confident in their training abilities and do not require ongoing, one-on-one support from a coach. After receiving an initial training structure from a coach, participants in this plan can independently follow the program. Please note that this plan involves a one-time payment.

Both the Climbing Training Plan+ and Flexibility Plans, as well as the Climbing Training Plans, utilise the Lattice Training app. However, it's important to note that the chat function is not available with the Climbing Training Plans. This feature is reserved for clients of the Climbing Training Plan+ and Flexibility Plans, who receive regular communication and personalized support from their coach.

Both types of plans begin with an initial assessment and pre-plan form. This is your chance to provide essential information about your training goals, available equipment and facilities, time commitment, preferred climbing discipline, and any past injuries.

There is a difference in the minimum physical requirements needed to start our plans which are outlined below.

I'm a multidisciplinary climber, which plan should I choose?

All our plans are fully customised to your aims, goals, climbing discipline and equipment availability.

Our pre-plan form will gather all the information we need to write you a 100% bespoke training plan and our experienced team is equipped to create a suitable training plan tailored to your specific needs.

If you're looking to work with a specific coach on our Climbing Training Plan+ service, please add your name to our waitlist and we'll be in touch!

I have a holiday planned in the middle of my training plan, can you edit my schedule?

Once a Climbing Training Plan has been written, it isn't intended to be edited. This service comes with Climbing Training Plan+ and Flexibility Training Plan, where your coach can adapt your schedule around last-minute changes.

For Climbing Training Plan clients, where possible, please let us know in your pre-plan form about any significant dates so we can plan around them.

Can I pause my Climbing Training Plan?

Unfortunately, it isn't possible for us to pause your training plan unless there is an injury or sickness (please see more info on this below).

However, you will have access to the training plan forever in the Lattice app, so you could always skip backwards in the scheduler to view the sessions.

Please get in touch for further details.

What if I get sick or injured mid-plan?

If you have any concerns about an injury or illness, it is crucial to stop your training right away. Should your symptoms persist for more than 48 hours and you believe the issue is significant, please reach out to us. We can discuss options for pausing or cancelling your training plan based on your specific situation. Further information about injuries and illnesses can be found here

When and how will I receive the assessment to test my physical performance?

Climbing Training Plan - Straight away via email after purchase. This will come in a Google Form.

Climbing Training Plan+ and Flexibility Training Plans - you will complete your assessments via the Lattice Training app in the first 2 weeks of your plan during your 'Discovery Phase'

How much time do I have to complete the assessment?

For our Climbing Training Plans, we ask that you submit your pre-plan form within 6 months of purchase. Assessments are usually completed over a few days to allow for rest and recovery (but in total should only take around 1-2 hours with a proper warm-up).

How long does it take for my coach to analyse my assessment results, and how can I follow this process?

Our data models give the coaches a summary of your results - comparing your assessment to thousands of other climbers. These summaries, in addition to the information you provide in the pre-plan form, will allow the coach to write your plan. You will receive your plan by Friday at the latest, before your Monday start date.

Will I have a video call with my coach after they analyse my assessment results? If so, how can I get in touch to schedule the call?

This service isn't included in our Climbing Training Plans, but you can expect a video call at the start of our Climbing Training Plan PLUS service. Your coach will, however, send you a video summary explaining your training plan in the Climbing Training Plans (see example here).

Can I communicate with my coach during the training sessions? If yes, how and how often?

This service only comes with Climbing Training Plan PLUS - You can message your dedicated coach anytime through the Lattice Training app — they’ll typically reply within 1–2 working days with guidance, support, and plan adjustments where needed. Your coaching starts with a video consultation, with discretionary video-call follow-ups every 3–6 months. Weekly updates are encouraged, but you set the pace. Learn more about how to make the most out of working with a remote coach.

Our Climbing Training Plan service is self-led and does not come with 1-1 coaching. However, if you have any questions, you are welcome to get in touch via contact@latticetraining.com

Each time I renew my training plan, will a new assessment be conducted to test my physical performance?

We don't advise retesting too frequently. Once per 6 months is usually a good amount of time. Your coach can look at your session logs to view your progress and provide any appropriate changes to any follow-up plans
